Troop 125 Summer Camp Camp Whitsett August 10-16, 2003

|
Camp Whitsett is in pristine forestland beside the Kern River about 35 miles north of Lake Isabella in the Sequoia National Forest, about 4½ hours north of Glendale. It offers outstanding waterfront, program and trail areas at an elevation of 4300 feet above sea level. Scouts have the opportunity to expand their outdoor knowledge, test their capabilities and enjoy the beauty of the Sierras along the fellowship that abounds among the campers. Camp Whitsett is recognized as having one of the finest summer camp programs in the Western Region of the BSA. Professionally prepared food is served through a central dining hall. A strong program of merit badge opportunities (43 total) include horsemanship, small boat sailing, Indian lore, Scoutcraft, hiking, rifle, archery, nature, environmental science, conservation, pioneering, wildlife management and many more, plus a full handicraft program. Additional program activities include mountain bikes, horse trail rides and whitewater rafting on the Kern River. Trail to First Class for the new Scouts and High Adventure programs for the older Scouts are also offered.
As in years past, we expect that there will be sufficient volunteers to take boys to and from camp. Should this not be the case, we will arrange alternate transportation, and charge accordingly. Final transportation decisions will be made at the orientation meeting on June 18.
