Our annual outing to prepare for Camporee

Camp Verdugo Oaks

March 28-30, 2003

 

Troop 125 will be participating in a pre-camporee training weekend along with Troops 188 and 199. The Cub Scout Webelos Dens from Packs 125, 188 and 199 are also invited to attend. Details are listed below:

DAY & DATE:  Friday, March 28, through Sunday, March 30, 2003

LOCATION:  Camp Verdugo Oaks - Note location change!

TOUR LEADERS: David Guzman (T188), Dennis Maxwell (T199) & Brant Reed (T125)

COST:  $30 for food, camp fees & an Official Eagle Rock Trek X T-shirt (+$1 for xxxl size).

TRANSPORTATION:  

  DEPARTURE MEETING PLACE & TIME:  We will be rehearsing for Camporee, and we want to test how well we can get out of town on a Friday after school.   Troop 125 will meet at Glenoaks Park at 6:00 pm, for a planned exit before 6:30 pm.  Scouts should eat dinner before arriving at the park, or bring a sack dinner to eat while waiting to go.

  RETURN TIME:  Scouts will return to Glenoaks Park by 1PM on Sunday.

WHAT TO WEAR:  Scout uniform traveling to and from Firestone, and at the Scout's Own service on Sunday morning; Eagle Rock Trek T-shirt for Saturday; Troop T-shirt or other Scout-related T-shirt at other times.

WHAT TO TAKE - PERSONAL:  good shoes (not sandals), jacket or sweatshirt, sleeping bag, hat (broad-brimmed preferred), canteen or water bottle, personal hygiene items, the Scout Outdoor Essentials (this means you, and don't forget sun screen!), cooking and eating utensils, hot-weather clothes and cool-weather clothes.  See the Scout Handbook for the list of items.

WHAT TO TAKE - PATROL:  Food, patrol flag, and patrol box.

FOOD:  By patrols.  Plan something simple (a quick lunch) for Saturday noon.

ACTIVITIES:  Round robin of training activities on Saturday; campfire program on Saturday evening.  Sunday: Scout's Own religious services; archery; orienteering courses; obstacle course; individual advancement (knots, lashings, first aid, knife & axe, plant identification, cooking, campsite selection; etc).
