Mr. Thompson called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m.

Senior Patrol Leader’s Report:  No report available.

Committee Chair’s Report:  Peter Thompson welcomed back the returning committee members.  It has been a busy summer for Troop 125 with the Eagle Projects of Austin Reed, Jeff Thompson, and Brandon Rogers.

Board of Review Chairman’s Report:  There have been no requests for a board of review.

Advancement Report:  Troop 125 has earned 131 merit badges since the last Court of Honor.  126 badges were earned at Camp Whitsett. Thanks to Megan McKenna 5 Scouts earned swimming merit badges at the end of summer. At summer camp there were 9 rank advancements:  1 Tenderfoot, 6 Second Class, and 2 First Class. Mr. Peter Thompson earned a special award for the 1 Mile Swim.

Scoutmaster’s Report:  It was a very successful summer camp, with 26 Scouts attending.  September 10 will be the annual information meeting for parents and Kim Kunitake, Social Activities Chair, will have sign up sheets to pass around.  There will also be packets to hand out to parents with the troop roster, calendar, etc.  Dues will be $30.00.

Treasurer’s Report:  Debbi Izumi reported that the troop’s current checking account balance is $4,927.66.

Social Activities Committee Report:  Kim Kunitake requested liquid refreshments from the committee members for the upcoming parents meeting.

Membership Chair’s Report:  John Saunders reported that as part of the re-chartering of the troop, 6/10 requirements are needed to be a “Quality Unit”.   One of these requirements is that each Scout receives a copy of the “Boys Life” scouting magazine at a cost of $10.00 per Scout.  A discussion followed as to whether to keep getting the magazine for all boys as has been done in previous years.  This decision will be revisited later this fall.

Training Coordinator’s Report:  Next troop committee training will be in October at the Verdugo Hills Council.  Further information is available on our Troop 125 website.

Equipment Coordinator’s Report:  Jim McKenna reported that the troop is being negligent about reporting and returning supplies.

Venture Scout Report:   Steve Webber thanked Clark McIleain and Gilbert Siegel for their help with the raft trip in August on the Lower Kern.  Steve will head the Venture Crew for the next Scout year, but askes that this be a year of transition.  He will be at Wednesday’s meeting to talk about Venture activities.

Old Business:  Brandon Rogers’ Eagle project is finished, Austin’ Reed’s is almost complete, and Jeff Thompson has to decide when to end his.

New Business:  Brad Nelson who is on the Council Golf Tournament Committee invited our committee members to participate in the tournament fundraiser at a cost of $250 per individual.   He is also looking into an archery range event for the Scouts and will bring more information to a PLC meeting.

The next committee meeting will be held on Monday, October 13, beginning at 7 p.m. at the home of Fritz and Gay Varga, 2110 Camino San Rafael, in Glendale.  All parents are welcome to attend.

Mr. Thompson adjourned the meeting at 8:37 pm.
